POKOTABI / Horaiken
宝来軒
Kameido’s neighborhood Chinese diner Horaiken serves up hearty stir-fried pork liver with scallions, ginger pork, and traditional soy-sauce ramen to fuel everyday meals.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Take a seat at the counter and the lively rhythm of woks clattering in the kitchen is enough to stir your appetite. Set along Suijin-dori near the residential quarters of Kameido, Horaiken is an immaculately kept machi chuka diner—a casual neighborhood Chinese eatery—built for unpretentious, comforting meals.
Browsing the menu, the sheer range of à la carte stir-fries immediately catches the eye. The sautéed pork liver with scallions enjoys steady popularity, coated in a savory, savory-sweet glaze with plenty of green onions that practically begs to be spooned over steamed white rice. The ginger pork, prepared with sliced cuts cooked into a rich sauce, pairs naturally with shredded cabbage soaked in the pan juices. Together with fragrant stir-fried vegetables, classic pork with garlic chives, and pan-fried gyoza, the lineup offers reliable fare whether you are after a filling dinner with rice or a companion for a bottle of beer.
The noodle section spans timeless standards, from pepper-scented soy-sauce ramen to salt-broth tanmen, bean sprout soup noodles, and gomoku soba loaded with thick-cut roast pork and vegetables. Crispy katayakisoba topped with thick sauce, alongside fried rice and chukadon rice bowls, ensures plenty of combinations to suit whatever you are craving.
During the lunch rush, the dining room often fills up quickly, backed by the brisk efficiency of the kitchen getting hot plates to tables. Payment is cash only, but whether dropping in for a midday lunch or an early evening meal, it offers the reassuring comfort of leaving full and well cared for.
